Reflecting on the multiphonics produced by leaky old contrabassoons, I experimented by slightly releasing the pressure of a key from either the 1st, 2nd or 3rd finger in my right hand. This technique created a multiphonic, particularly when transitioning from overblowing. The primary challenge lies in controlling this action with a single finger. In this video, I demonstrate:
Overblowing A1, then slightly releasing the pressure from the 1st finger of my left hand.
Overblowing B1, then slightly releasing the pressure from the 3rd finger of my left hand.
Overblowing C2, then slightly releasing the pressure from the 3rd finger of my left hand.
Overblowing C#2, then slightly releasing the pressure from the 2nd finger of my left hand.
Overblowing D2, then slightly releasing the pressure from the 2nd finger of my left hand.
Overblowing and slightly releasing the finger pressure from one key to create a multiphonic.
